May 2016 Travel Idea: Hong Kong

SEE

If you are a cable car enthusiast, a cable car ride to Ngong Ping is a must-do when you are in Hong Kong. The view from the cable car's window as you are moving from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping is priceless. The whole ride takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. However, I do recommend you to purchase your ticket in advance as the queue for the tickets here can be quite long.

Another sight that you definitely can't miss is the Big Buddha statue which is located at Ngong Ping. The statue is situated near Po Lin Monastery and it symbolises the harmonious relationship between men and nature, people and faith.

The size of the room may not be that large however, it is clean and free smartphone is provide in each room for you to connect to the internet. If you prefer to stay in Tsim Sha Tsui area, you can try the Gateway, Hong Kong (double room starts from $220) which is a member of Marco Polo hotels. The best thing of the Gateway is that it is linked to one of the popular shopping centres in Hong Kong, Harbour City. It is also one of the best places to find a lot of good food from dim sum to macarons.

EAT

When you are in Hong Kong, you must not miss out eating the two favourite cha chaan teeng (re: tea restaurant) dishes: (a) condensed milk bun and (b) Hong Kong milk tea. Tsui Wah restaurant is the most cha chaan teng in Hong Kong and you can get both dishes at this restaurant (which has its chains all across Hong Kong). The condensed milk bun served crispy and sweet, I can finish the whole thing myself.

There is something special about milk tea served in Hong Kong cha chaan teng. The cup that they used is pretty distinct. Tsui Wah restaurant always serves the Hong Kong milk tea in this manner and I find it so cute.
